Herirloom Highlight: Gold and Burgundy Birthday Invitations

Jeanette, a friend and coworker at my previous full-time job, asked me to design invitations for a surprise party she and her siblings were throwing for her mother's 70th birthday. We wanted the invitations to match the formal restaurant venue, which was brought to life with gold chairs, burgundy table clothes, and soft ivory place settings.

The invitations were digitally printed in black ink on luxurious gold metallic paper. The classic damask-inspired pattern, in a slightly deeper shade of gold, was the perfect way to add a little detail to the simple text-based design. We paired the invitation with a matching gold envelope and a burgundy envelope liner.

The party was a success, and I was so happy to visit Jeanette over the summer to hear all about it. The biggest challenge for me, since leaving my full-time job last July, has been missing the people who made me smile every single day. Getting to be a part of their life celebrations as their designer has been a rewarding way to stay in touch.
