Heirloom Highlight: Black and White Engagement Invitations by Sincerely, Jackie

You. Guys.

I am so glad to have this whole post just to gush about these engagement party invitations, because they were a true labor of love, and turned out even better than I could have imagined.

As a designer, there is nothing better than being given full creative freedom to try something new, especially when it's something you've never done before, and have a complete hunch that it's going to be AH-mazing! When Leo, who is my husband's cousin, and Janina got engagement, they asked for something over-the-top pretty for their engagement party invitations. We wanted to used a photo on one side, and have the invitation information on the other. My printer and I had recently been experimenting with digitally printing white ink on dark paper, which is something I had really wanted to try for these invitations. When I found a black-on-black demask pattern with subtle metallic shimmer, I knew it would be a match made in white-ink-black-paper heaven. I'm so thankful Janina and Leo loved my design proposal, because the finished invitations were downright divine.

After printing the invitation on the patterned paper, a full-bleed photo design was hand-attached to the back, and the whole thing was finished with black edge painting. The result was a double-thick invitation with a black and white photo on one side, and a stunning display of black-on-black pattern and crisp white text on the other. The invitation was then sealed in an ivory metallic envelope with a matching black patterned envelope liner. Seriously? I just die. Can every couple have invitations like these?! I'd love to make these every.single.day, and now you can order them online in the shop. Hooray!
